A bunch of good things...

Alot of good things have been brought to my attention the past few weeks, and I wanted to pass them on, in hopes that if you might be looking to hear some new music, watch a new TV show, or to have a new cause. Below are a few things that you might find fit into those categories...

Lily Allen is British, talented, young and a bit angry... which makes for great energetic music with extremely entertaining lyrics mixed in with rap, ska and hop-hop influence.

Rolling Stone - 3.5 stars out of 5 -- "[She] writes shambling pop songs, rooted in ska and rap, with cheeky rhymes....Lily Allen's an original."
Spin - 4 stars out of 5 -- "ALL RIGHT, STILL is all about the stories behind the stories..."
Entertainment Weekly - "[A] collection of irresistible pop songs imbued with both smarts and street cred."

The new series, The Riches, which debuted on FX three weeks ago is about a family of Southern grifters who con their way into a wealthy gated community . From the moment the show starts, you are drawn in by the characters and the story. "The father, Wayne Malloy, is played by Eddie Izzard, a beloved stand-up comedian and sketch artist in Britain. Minnie Driver plays his wife, Dahlia, a princess of the blood in the realm of the Travelers but in the outside world a woman who has just emerged from a two-year stint in jail with an addiction to cough syrup...Trading in their battered RV and Louisiana swamplands for a sumptuous pink mansionette with swimming pool, the Malloys pull off their ruse with skill and also childish naïveté. The children do not go to school but are well educated in the arts of forgery, car theft and flimflam." -New York Times, March 12, 2007

Another British singer making her mark in the US is Amy Winehouse. Her CD is a mix of Billie Holiday, hip hop and soul, with lyrics to that will catch you off guard at times.

Rolling Stone - 3 stars out of 5 -- "Winehouse is a nervy, witty songstress whom indie rockers, pop fans and hip-hoppers can dig."
Entertainment Weekly - "It's precisely Winehouse's lyrics...aching, flirty, and often straight-up nasty -- that raise this expertly crafted set into the realm of true, of-the-minute originality." -- Grade: A-

Between the siteVoteForTheWorst.com and The Howard Stern Show, American Idol has taken on many new viewers and voters- who want to take this show down. Sanjaya Malakar can't sing for shit, but so far the push to keep him on the show has worked well enough to ensure he will now be on the American Idol Summer Tour. With just the easy dialing of your phone, you too can help a starving child... oops, I mean, you too can help keep Sanjaya on American Idol. Plus some girl is on a hunger strike until she gets voted off- and she could use the extra time. (Check that out here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YDviPoXJl28)

The Future Mr. & Mrs. Dubb

A big, gigantic CONGRATULATIONS to Dubb and Jordana on their engagement! Dubbers popped the question last night, and we think Jordana said yes. Just kidding. The two are now happily engaged and smiling even more than in this picture! Happy wedding planning and all the best to The Dubbs!

TrashyPantz Injury!!!

So, my finger got in the way of a very sharp knife on Monday night.
Dan & I headed to the ER around 7:30 and didn't get home until 11pm with this contraption on my hand. Have no fear, I was very brave (only cried for a few seconds) and my thumb should be healed in about 2-3 months (the splint is only for one more day or so). My supply of percosets however, will not last 2-3 months. Woe is me.
